Dr Inderdeep Kaur, State Programme Officer, maternal and child development, Punjab, delivered a talk on pregnancy and related issues. In detail, she explained the different phases of pregnancy and the precautions to be taken during each period. She also gave the information of the various facilities and schemes the government had rolled out for maternal health. Team Samvedana members present were President Prajakta Avhad, Vice president Aruti Nayar and Executive member Ritu Pathak. After the shloka singing by students, Ritu Pathak, gave the welcome address. Aruti Nayar gave an introduction to Samvedana and stressed on the need to create synergy for change. Suman Sharma, Principal Star Public School, also addressed the audience and encouraged the audience to ask questions.Prajakta explained how important it was for the women to empower themselves by becoming aware of the government schemes for their benefit. If they did not help themselves and were passive, they would lose out. Dr Inderdeep stressed on the importance of approaching the ASHA worker and the government hospital for check-ups during pregnancy. The women should opt for institutional delivery and not yield to pressure to deliver at home. Officials of the Axis Bank present on the occasion, gave information about different schemes available for women and the need to save. The people present participated enthusiastically in the event. Many of them asked questions from the doctor. It was a vibrant session and there were about 76 women present. The teachers of Star Public School helped team Samvedana
